Wait! A new Arms Race
Russia and the United States have always had a weird and complicated relationship ever since after the end of World War II. Two new concepts arise their names were capitalism and communism. Communism is a totalitarian government, all property owned by the state, no free enterprise, education, and healthcare is provided to all by state, and classless society all members were equal. But capitalism is a democratic government property, privately owned, driven by free enterprise, education and healthcare are limited or supply privately, have freedom of the press and also class distinctions and usually focus on individual progress.
As you can see the US and the Soviet Union really didn’t have the same mindset and also Stalin broke his agreement with Germany and join the allies so that led the US and the USSR to become the world‘s leading superpowers with Britain behind them. But the USSR didn’t last long and separated from the allies and began communism this led the idea of the Iron Curtain it is a metaphor for ideological divided that existed between the communist east Europe and democratic west Europe. On June 1947 the Marshall plan was announced that allowed the US to provide financial aid, also on March 1947, the Truman Doctrine was announced to send money to Greece and Turkey a total up to $400 million dollars these ideas of financial aid was one of the ways to slow the process of communism spreading throughout Europe. Also in July 1949 NATO treaty is ratified, this treaty was for the defense alliance that was against the USSR if one was attacked they all responded.
Due to Germany not having any power or leadership in the country The Nazi regime begins the fall. As a result the United States,USSR, Great Britain, and France decided to divide Germany between them four was the result of the Potsdam conference Germany was divided into four spheres of influence one for each ally but the main focal point was the capital of the city of Germany called Berlin this city was divided in half between capitalism and communism everyone knew as a “city to watch”. This led to the start of the cold war. The Cold War is the west had competition tension and conflict but never develop into a full-blown war. during this Cold War on September 1949 the Soviets test the first atomic bomb this came to a shock especially the United States because of the USSR new nuclear advantages the United States was afraid that they would overcome and take power. This led to what we know as the Arms Race. But is still question if today is there still a “new” arms race that can threaten the United States.
Well just in recent news Russia had stated that accidentally they revealed plans for a new nuclear torpedo and underwater drone that was designed to swim 6000 miles that was enough to extend much of the underwater just as air missile does. Well with Russia’s new nuclear torpedo this fears many people in the US due to the torpedo can turn a city into radioactive waste and can last decades. Also, the new Russian "dirty" H-bomb also called Hydrogen bomb is now the latest move in the new arms race this can bring America and Russia back to the nuclear war. They claim that they have improved their nuclear weapons but they have said to stay neutral so this is the benefit because it can allow the US and NATO to plan just in need to attack. The Obama administration made a plan to spend over 1 trillion over the next 30 years Towards nuclear weapon like nuclear bomb bombers missiles and submarine.
Overall the USA plan is to send 200 new nuclear bombs, including 12 new submarines, 1000 warhead missiles that have the capability to hear any spot on, and also the Air Force is developing a new strategy to send bombs, plus a new fleet of almost 650 ballistic missiles. This sounds like a very dangerous and improve plan but it’s also shown that the new improvements owned by the US are 30 times more powerful than the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But many feared with this new nuclear improvements and ideas also including Pope Francis he "had called a band for nuclear weapons when he was at the United Nations". But overall since World War II Russia and the United States of America have increased and improved technology of the nuclear weapons and makes it more dangerous. During World War II a bomb was dangerous but now it's upscale to being too dangerous, if we were to go into another war there is no doubt that it wouldn’t last neither a year or more this puts us citizens today in a hard place knowing that our life could be taken in seconds if a bomb was to drop. So if we were to go into another war, I ask you what would you do if that were to happen?

WOW ! This is so interesting I never knew communism was big deal. Well what would you do if the U.S was ruled by communism ? Also how would you deal with the nuclear weapons ? (from joana's sister)

For me personally yes communism during the cold war and post World War 2 spread throughout Europe very quickly and led to many things like the 38th parallel line in Korea and the Berlin wall and blockade as well. If U.S was to be under communism so much would change everyone would be equal not separated by class and everyone would have access to education and health. But the hardest thing that the government would have total control and no citizen could go against the government. With the nuclear weapons for me I would want to be able to know that my country is advance with nuclear weapons and I do agree that we should be able to make and increase and evolve our weapons because we never know if another Pearl Harbor can happen again.

Also the opinions of Douglas MacArthur and Truman were very different, can you specify on how those beliefs and how they affected the beliefs of Americans?
